With a Hugh Pinch of Salt...

Another day, another story in the local newspaper...which after reading it, would lead to the conclusion that these type of stories are "sensational news" - just for the sake of attracting readers' attention and perhaps tempt you enough to buy the newspaper & read it.

Berita Minggu - reported about a local businessmen who lost over RM1mil to a group of pickpockets at a mall in Subang Jaya.

The incident happened when two women, believed to be Filipinas, pretended to drop a mobile phone in front of the victim to distract him while three men picked his pocket of S$450,000 (RM1.05mil) in cash.

A security guard who saw the incident notified a nearby police station which dispatched officers to go after the pickpockets. Two of them were arrested while crossing the SS17 area.

The businessman was shopping with his wife when the incident happened.

Who walks around a shopping mall with S$450,000 in his back pocket???!!

Enough said.

Do You Keep RM150,000 in Your Home?

This question begs to be asked because it would seems very logical and sensible no one in their sane & right mind would actually keep such a large amount at home...but lol and behold, someone actually did. In the form of jewelry! Geez! RM150,000 worth of jewelry was sitting in the house when the robbers came knocking last night...

Here is the gist of the story...

MALACCA: Five masked machete-wielding robbers left not only with RM150,000 in cash and valuables, but also some words of advice for their victims.

The robbers had entered the house in Taman Batang Melaka at about 9pm and held up tuition teacher M. Sashi, 35, who was giving lessons to six primary schoolchildren aged between eight and 11.

They tied him, his wife and elderly mother before forcing the children to lie face down and remain silent.
One of the pupils’ uncle, who came to fetch his 10 year-old nephew, was also held and tied up.

Jasin CID chief Asst Supt Ahzarha Abdul Rahim said the robbers, believed to be in their 20’s, stole an estimated RM150,000 worth of jewellery, an LCD television set and RM1,500.

I don't think there is any cure for stupidity...
